Austin grew up in New Concord, Ohio on a small farm, at the top of a majestic hill. He started reading at a very young age and was instantly drawn to the fantasy genre, though he did, and still does, enjoy other types of fiction as well. He didn't start writing until his freshman year at Miami University (in Ohio, not Florida. Go Redhawks!). In those first dabbles with writing, he instantly fell in love, thinking that he was creating works of literary genius. He was not. They were terrible. He wrote his first novel three years later in his senior year. It was also not great. However, he kept writing and writing and writing, until finally, he found a novel worthy enough to be published. Forgotten Essence is his debut novel.

Austin is currently a high school English teacher in Kentucky. He loves what he does and uses his experiences as a teacher to influence his writing. You won't find the cliche of two main characters falling irrevocably in love in his work, because he once had a student refuse to touch a book if there was so much as the hint of that in the title. Instead of falling back on obligatory love plot lines, he works to create new magical systems and environments in an attempt to bring his readers into a new world. To provide them an escape from the everyday.

When he isn't reading or writing, he is playing Stardew with his partner, Kelsey, or simply staring at his yard, waiting for the next mow.
